In three simple steps you can send the petition (below) to the Fine Gael team negotiating a Programme for Government. Your petition reminds Fine
Gael of their pro-life promise and asks them to resist pressure to compromise on the rights of the unborn.
Before the election, the Fine Gael party gave a strong commitment to oppose the legalisation of abortion and to protect human embryos from destructive research. Your party promised that, "women in pregnancy will receive whatever treatments are necessary to safeguard their lives, and that the duty of care to preserve the life of the baby will also be upheld." As a direct result of this commitment (and assurances given by individual candidates), tens of thousands of pro-life citizens voted
for Fine Gael. This pro-life vote was given to your party on a basis of trust. I expect you to defend, without compromise, the position you adopted before the election and to vindicate the inalienable and imprescriptible right to life of the most vulnerable human beings, the unborn. I am hoping to see the Fine Gael pro-life promise enshrined in
the Programme for Government and manifested in your policies and actions in the coming years. While recognising the enormous challenges you will face restoring public finances, public confidence and resuscitating the economy, I expect you to pursue policies which recognise that a fair and just economy can only be built upon a fair and just society. Such a society is, by definition, one which upholds the sanctity of unborn human life.
